UMP targets a sustainable campus approach as well as specific initiatives designed to produce a conducive green ecosystem.
To support this initiative, the Research Group led by the Director of the Center for Advanced Materials Intelligence, ChM. Dr. Izan Izwan bin Misnon and Senior Engineer of the Center for Development and Property Management, Ts. Mohd Nurulakla bin Mohd Azlan succeeded in producing the Sea-Lite lamp innovation, which is a device that converts seawater into electricity.
Sea-Lite is a portable lamp that uses seawater as a source of electrolytes. This device is called Sea-Lite refers to the sea that provides light. The design is small and easy to carry. This device is able to supply light and electricity and is able to last in the long run.
UMP is committed in achieving the aspirations towards a Sustainable Malaysia 2030 based on the Green Technology Master Plan Malaysia 2017 - 2030.
It goes hand in hand in making Malaysia a carbon-neutral country by 2050 as announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
